Wellcome to Delitiae Musicae


     Founded in 2007, the vihuela Duo Delitiae Musicae researches and brings to light the Spanish repertoire of the 16th century, that is the “Golden Century” of the Spanish polyphony and the time of one of the most genuine Spanish instruments: The vihuela.

   Delitiae Musicae performs the Spanish repertoire composed for two vihuelas but also intabulates polyphonic music for 4 or more voices to fit the ensemble by composer such as Tomás Luis de Victoria, Cristobal de Morales, Francisco Guerrero. The ensemble also includes in his programs duets of well-known solo vihuela pieces; these duets have been created improvising one of the vihuelas, as it use to be a common practice in the 16th century.

   Both Jesús Sanchez and Manuel Minguillón have a broad professional career, having performed internationally both as solo and continuo players with ensembles such as SEMA, Capilla Peñaflorida, Orphenica Lira, The Tallis Scholars, Gabrieli Consort, Kings Singers, Florilegium and having recorded for internationational Labels such Naxos, K617, Glissando, Tecno-Saga, Arsis and Signum Records.

   As a duo, they have play in various Festivals in Montreal (Canada), Ljubljana (Slovenia), Loulé (Portugal), Madrid (Spain). Their performances have been broadcast live by various radios such as RNE, RTP and BBC. In August 2010 Delitiae Musicae have recorded its first duo CD “Para Tañer Juntos con Dos Vihuelas”.
